Surgical scar removal

Though surgical scars can be extremely prominent (depending on the nature of the surgery), they also tend to be superficial, thanks to the precision of the incisions.

Our renowned clinicians

Having graduated from various leading medical institutions and with decades of experience in the dermal care industry, our clinicians excel at their practice. But, as our clients will attest, their great strength is the warm, friendly, safe atmosphere they create for anyone seeking help with sensitive skin issues.

How we can get rid of your scar tissue

Unlike chemical therapies, laser treatment is a highly-targeted treatment for scar removal. They work by targeting the scar tissue with a focused high-energy beam of light, which converts to heat within the tissue and thereby breaks it down.

Laser scar removal treatments not only break down scar tissue but also break down the dark pigment within the scar and the surrounding skin to even out your skin tone.

How It Works

When to get laser scar removal treatment

We can offer a laser scar treatment for practically any type of scar, so our door is open to anyone who wants to feel more confident in their skin. Whether you want to remove minor acne scars or deep accident scars, we’ll find the right treatment for you.

Who It’s For

How to prepare for scar removal

There will be different preparation instructions depending on the treatment you'll be receiving. In your initial consultation, we'll tell you what needs to be done pre-treatment. For most of our treatments, no matter which technology we use, you'll need to:

  • Avoid sun exposure and fake tanning for one month prior to treatment
  • Cleanse your skin, and ensure you're not wearing hairspray, perfume, or aftershave on the day of your treatment
  • Avoid waxing your hair or using a depilator
Preparation

How to take care of your skin post-treatment

We will provide you with detailed written instructions to follow after your laser scar removal sessions. Generally, you will need to:

  • Avoid sun exposure by using, at minimum, SPF 50+ sunscreen
  • Moisture using Hydra Factor K cream
  • Manage minor swelling and redness with a cold compressor
  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medication to prevent bruising
  • Avoid exercising, especially in chlorinated and saltwater pools
  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms and hot showers while your skin heals
Aftercare

Fraxel Dual laser

Using patented fractional laser technology, the Fraxel dual laser safely penetrates superficial skin layers and stimulates natural collagen growth.

Vbeam Prima

The Vbeam Prima uses two alternating wavelengths of 595nm and 1064nm to target blood vessels. It's a non-invasive procedure with minimal downtime, and it's virtually pain-free.

Skin needling and Vivace RF microneedling

We use the M-Pen for skin needling. It creates punctures across your skin, less than a millimetre in diameter, to promote collagen and elastin production. We also offer Vivace RF microneedling, which combines fractional radiofrequency technology with microneedling to encourage collagen growth and tighten the skin in one painless procedure.

Laser treatments for scars of any colour

The colour of your scars gives you an indication of how well they’re healing. We will carefully assess your scars to ensure that laser treatment is the best approach.

Red scars

Scars can appear red, pink, purple or brown if they still have active blood vessels coursing through them. Your body will direct blood to the area to help heal the wound. In some instances, we may be able to use laser treatments to remove red scars, although we may also recommend that you wait for the scar to fully heal before seeking treatment.

White scars

Scar tissue does not produce melanin, which is why healed scars often appear white, light brown or light pink (depending on your skin tone). We believe laser treatments work best on fully healed scars. While it can be difficult to stimulate new pigmentation, our lasers can improve the texture of white scar tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will getting my scars removed with lasers hurt?

Our scar removal therapies are non-invasive and virtually pain-free. You may feel slightly uncomfortable while receiving a skin needling or laser treatment, but we can apply a topical numbing cream to reduce painful sensations. If you're concerned about pain, we can test a small section of your skin to see how your body reacts before treatment.

Does it matter how old my scars are?

No. We can reduce the appearance of old and new scars with our laser scar removal. Different treatments will take varying lengths of time and have different results, but our laser removal procedures will reduce the appearance of your scar no matter the age.

How soon can I get rid of a scar?

We can treat post-surgical scars as soon as the stitches have been removed or when the scar has fully healed over. We can treat acne scarring once the inflammation has reduced.

Are there any side effects to laser scar removal?

You may experience a slight change in the pigment of your skin post-treatment, but this will go away in time. And your skin may be red and itchy immediately after your laser therapy session, but you can apply a cold compress, which will reduce any adverse side effects.
