Acne bruises and pigmentation

Acne bruises and pigmentation

Cosmelan peels and vascular laser therapy can lighten the dark blotches left on your skin after your acne has cleared.

Cosmelan peels and vascular laser therapy can lighten the dark blotches left on your skin after your acne has cleared. This excess pigmentation resides in the topmost layer of your skin, so a lighter skin peel treatment will likely be strong enough to even out the skin.

How we’ll treat your acne

How we’ll treat your acne

From laser therapy to micro-needling, we have a range of solutions to treat acne. Depending on the severity of your acne, we'll help you make an informed decision on which solution to select.

We’ll consider factors such as the severity of your acne, its location, and the timeline you’re comfortable with (you may have an event to prepare for, or need multiple rounds of treatment).

Whatever acne treatment we settle on, we’ll make sure it’s one you’re comfortable with.

Preparing for acne treatment

Preparing for acne treatment

We will give you preparation instructions specific to your treatment before your clinic appointment. As a general guide, we want your skin as clean as possible and for you to avoid any skin treatments or activities that may cause an adverse reaction:

  • Avoid tanning (natural or solarium) for a month prior
  • Avoid hair removal treatments on the treatment area for two weeks prior
  • Avoid other laser or chemical peel treatments on the treatment area for two weeks prior
  • Avoid blood-thinning medication and alcohol for a week prior
Acne treatment aftercare

Acne treatment aftercare

You can expect redness and swelling for up to 7-10 days after your acne laser treatment session.

After a chemical peel, you may experience redness followed by scaling, which occurs 3-7 days after treatment.

To help your skin heal, drink plenty of water, moisturise your skin, and avoid the sun and the gym for at least the first 24 hours post-treatment.

We're invested in your skin journey

How we treat acne

After your initial consultation, we'll devise a treatment plan for you. You'll receive one (or more) of the below acne treatments for optimal skin health.

Chemical peels

We'll unclog your pores and rejuvenate your skin using a range of chemical peels, from salicylic acids to trichloroacetic acids.

Fraxel dual laser

Like micro-needling, the Fraxel laser penetrates the superficial skin layers, stimulating new skin cell growth and collagen production.

Vbeam Prima

Using pulsed-dye laser technology, the Vbeam Prima delivers an intense but gentle burst of light into the areas affected by scars.

Vivace RF micro-needling

Combining micro-needling and radiofrequency energy, the RF micro-needling method induces collagen in the affected area, promoting new skin growth.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which acne treatment will work for me?

We won't know until you visit our clinic. At your initial consultation, we'll ask you to fill out your medical history and skin concerns.

Then, using our Clinical Imaging System, we'll assess the extent of the scarring damage and pigmentation. We'll give you a comprehensive, tailored treatment plan featuring a mix of skin care products and skin solutions.

How do chemical peels work for acne?

Chemical peels remove the top layer of skin, unclogging pores and removing pigmentation caused by acne flares.

Using chemical solutions such as salicylic acid, glycolic acid or retinoic acid, our chemical peels range from mild to moderate. We'll make an informed recommendation based on the severity of your acne flare-ups and scarring.

What skin care products do you use?

We're constantly researching and testing skin care products to ensure we're using and recommending the best skin solutions possible.

Our current skin care range includes chemical peels and skin care treatments by mesoestetic, and Dermaceutic. We also devise treatment plans using the Biretix Spot-Control Program.

Will these methods clear up my acne for good?

No solution will rid you of your acne forever, not without resorting to treatments like Roaccutane. But, if performed once a month, our chemical peels can keep your face clear and fresh and rid you of acne scarring.

Is laser treatment for acne safe?

Yes. Laser treatment for acne is precise, fast, safe, and effective. Chemical peels and dermabrasion do not have the same accuracy as lasers for acne treatment.

How long does it take acne treatment to work?

AAcne treatments take time to work. You should start to see some results within 4 to 6 weeks. To see complete clearing, it usually takes up to 3 months.

It's important to remember that you need to stick with a single treatment for a while to gauge its effectiveness. Chopping and changing acne treatments can irritate the skin and result in more breakouts.
